  1. Relying on a limited resource (oil, natural gas, dino juice), not really educating or expecting much of your citizens, and creating a passive society was a recipe for disaster. Surely everyone knew that that was a bubble that inevitably would burst? At least efforts are taken to diversify the economies in the middle east now, but the question is if it'll be sustainable.
