  1. Not even Trump put america first at the expense of USA's allies and partners. It's just that USA's way of carrying their partners unconditionally was changed, to ensure that everyone pulls their weight. NATO and its budget was strengthened under Trump. The West's hostility against China as a whole (partially justified, but also excessive) would've led to trade wars and disputes no matter if Trump was president.
