No, they aren't. This law has been planned for a while and would've been implemented either way. It's not even controversial if you look outside of Western media and its biased sources. What's the problem in obliterating little troublemakers? Sure, the Western world will cry "human rights", but nobody in their right mind cares about such nonsense when it's about the "rights" of criminal rioting vandals.

It's deserved for all the nonsensical protesting, attacks against people with mainland ties, and domestic destruction that the movement has caused the past year. I'm pleased with this outcome, even though I'm generally a heavy critic of China and it's communist ties.

Most people are pleased with living in China. Only the small number of dissidents are heard and broadcasted in the West.

The western reaction has been deeply ideological and symbolic. There's no good reason to oppose the security law that China has implemented in Hong Kong, to crush disorderly troublemakers, terrorists and those sabotaging the region and its economy. These aggressive rioters created this themselves. If they weren't greedy little spawns, and shut down their operations when the extradition law was withdrawn like 8 months ago, this law wouldn't have been appropriate. But they decided to pick the irrational route like BLM are doing in the US, by wishing for clemency to be provided for criminals, shaming the police department and encouraging the leadership to lie by not referring to the rioters as "rioters". Despicable. I'm glad, for once, about this move by China.

A special economic zone created in the UK for HK residents is an interesting take. Perhaps it could expand to British citizens and other ethnic groups in the world, creating an economic powerhouse with flourishing businesses, high activity, tourism, and a large export/import system.

Probably. Handing power and influence to welfare-dependent and groups with no experience in politics, how to run a large county, and how to create thriving outcomes for America is probably not the greatest idea. No clue what SCOTUS are up to lately...
