  2. The Russian state has been completely humiliated on a global scale lately, so I can see why they're restricting a continuation of that. Perhaps some lust for revenge and retribution is involved too. Putin has denied the claim that the large castle that Navalny showcased in a 2 hour long documentary belonged to Putin, and that the president had enriched himself through corrupt embezzlement. To me, it's unclear which narrative is authentic here, but Putin hasn't precisely got a great track record when it comes to honesty and transparency.
