@debbydeloach All these things are in the natural world, part of nature. The universe was just very different early on. The fundamental forces and particles were there just not in the same state. The LHC recreates those states.

@barcelonachair6487 Science is pretty much the opposite of religion. Religion has dogma, Science does not, religion have unalterable books, Science published papers year on year which are challenged, verified, discussed in conferences, Experiments can rule them out. Religion has authorities, Science has experts. Science is tentative, nothing is proven only tested and given consensus if appropriate. Having 4,5 or 6 different theories for one phenomenon is not unusual. Religions are similar to other religions, zero to do with Science

@barcelonachair6487 If you are an educated liberal then you need to have a word with your alt right Christian counterparts. The majority of the science community are atheist, National Academy of Science and RS are overwhelmingly non religious.

@debbydeloach Short answer is we don't know where these particles could be in nature. The very early universe composed of a QGP, Quark Gluon Plasma and this state of matter has been recreated in accelerators. Exotic quarks could be in neutron stars where density is very high. I am not sure what gods have to do with anything. Science works on evidence, data and theory to explain that data

@debbydeloach Spirituality, philosophy not my thing. Work at the LHC depends on money and to find the next level after this may not be justified. Spending billions of dollars.

@debbydeloach The god particle was a media thing, high energy particle physicists do not talk like that. Peter Higgs and others wrote a couple of papers on a field that could give particles mass. This field had a particle that later became known as the Higgs Boson. The publication was in 1964 and in 2008 they went looking for it and found it in 2012. That's good Science.

@debbydeloach The great thing about Science is that it makes predictions you can test. Sometimes the predictions are expected but not guaranteed like the Higgs, the Science community was split on whether they would find it or if it even existed. The theory was sound enough but if the experimental data says no then out it goes. The Scientific method is like a filter.

@debbydeloach They are only just investigating exotic quarks because they are relatively new in terms of theory and experiment. 30 years or so.

@debbydeloach I studied applied Biology at University so if you are referring to Evolution then it is not a matter of buying into anything. The data tells us we share a common ancestor with all apes and Pan troglodytes about 7 million years ago.

@debbydeloach There is actually some proposals now that are suggesting protons have more than three quarks. Based on many papers using statistical analysis with data they have now.

@debbydeloach Science does not work like that, if the proton has the quota of 3 quarks then the LHC will confirm that I think. The extra mass of the Muon is probably more of an issue. Like I said, experiment rules. If the data says no, then out it goes. Supersymmetry is on shaky ground right now. Lots of beautiful mathematics but if they cannot find it then it's wrong.

@debbydeloach Thanks Debbie, you have an enquiring mind and are asking all the right questions. I am not a Scientist, I am a tech, I use the technology that has resulted from the science. I want to understand how the technology I use got here so I try and read and understand. Quantum mechanics is difficult and Quantum field theory is even worse. Beyond me with the spare hours I have unfortunately.

@debbydeloach Ha ha ok. Trust me if you want real answers with substance from professional academics in the field I am not the guy! I am a member of physics forums so I have learned a lot from there. I look after data points and I had no idea how it all worked. I can use it but how do I get it with the kit I use? I don't know. I don't know how my phone works, not really. I know how a vaccine works but I don't know how my phone works! If you are interested you can find answers to any level you want. The beauty of finding stuff out is fantastic. I like the fact you disagree but have not been an 4sshole about it. That shows some class and also intelligence.
