No. We are talking about third world countries where data compilation is difficult and there are some politics going on where the Science is sound but the governments are not transparent. @thetimetotalktogether.1444 I am 54 with moderate asthma requiring daily steroids. Wearing a mask in public places, at work and on public transport is no issue whatsoever. We are not in lockdown we never were. I have colleagues in China who were in lockdown December 2019, THAT was lock down. The vaccines are effective but we don't know about long COVID19. We can pretty much do anything from Monday anyway, some mask wearing in certain places.

@Jo-sp5cp Yes over 180,000 deaths in the UK alone. We are averaging about 70 deaths per day from Covid at the moment as cases are on the increase again. The hope is that the vaccines will continue to give protection from severe disease and death. There is one issue that has not factored in yet. A lot of people were kept from having hospital treatment and dental treatment from March 2020 till Fairly recently and there are still huge back logs. This will impact very negatively public health.

@tuckstar No this was nothing to do with seasonal flu. There is a vaccine for for flu and the course of the disease is well documented. UK Drs had months not decades of data to go off and they are still working this thing out. Clotting, neurological damage multiple organ failure to name a few. I am not sure when the vaccine will come out or how effective it will be. I have two colleagues working on a vaccine right now, one on seasonal flu (they get seeds from the WHO every year and this is pretty well understood) the other is working on COVID19 and close to a nervous breakdown. She can't tell me too much but the failures have been reported in the press.

They analyse data usually going back 5 years or so and do year by year month by month comparisons. This is first world approach, trickier in India Africa where people get sick and die without getting on the radar. 1918 flu, look at estimates for dead, range is a factor of 2.

@davejames1452 one way of estimating the mortality of the virus is to look at the death to case ratio. IF all these false positives are a correct ( that has been claimed since the beginning) then the kill rate goes up. For an easy example. 100 cases and one death. However if those 100 cases were only 50 actual positive cases because of a bogus PCR then the kill rate just doubled.

@davejames1452 That is not how they do it. There are about 160,000 on death certificates but that is corrected currently to about 137,000 actual deaths n the UK. The kill rate is probably about 1%. I can't see it being lower than 0.5% or higher than 2.5%. Also the kill rate of the original Wuchan is different to Alpha which emerged in December 2021. These small % add up when we talking about 66 million people. The government have been slammed for not acting quicker after Ferguson's paper was published. The PCR thing was one big red herring, IF done properly it is good enough to detect the virus. Cross sensitivity is no issue in the UK. More of an issue in Africa probably.

Some are based on conventional attenuated adenoviruses. They all work. Moderna, Johnson and Johnson, Pfizer and AZ. The Chinese one had lower efficacy.

The virus will find everyone but since most people now have a combination of Immunity from the vaccine and virus, the risk to the populations from severe illness is much reduced.

@aaroningl Most are vaccinated in the UK, breakthrough cases are inevitable unfortunately and vaccinated group is about 20-25 times higher for older cohorts. USA majority are unvaccinated. Remember when there was no one was vaccinated fully the death rate was TEN TIMES what it is now, that is a fact.

@TomBaldwin2483 Unfortunately idiots on here are suffering from a disease far more contagious than COVID19, its called 'conspiracy fever.' Younger people more susceptible although regular treatment with facts in some studies has been found to be effective. Biggest risk factor is low IQ and regular exposure to Facebook and Twitter. Intensive internet restriction and a short course in biology are the only cure right now. I like that I think I will spam my own post.
