  5.  @a64738  No the Scientists do not say that all, read some of the published literature instead of conspiracy web sites and face book. Seasonal flu does not kill 40,000 in the UK in 3 months or 200,000 in 5 months in the USA. Also it's 'flu' short for influenza.

  7.  @tuckstar  No this was nothing to do with seasonal flu. There is a vaccine for for flu and the course of the disease is well documented. UK Drs had months not decades of data to go off and they are still working this thing out. Clotting, neurological damage multiple organ failure to name a few. I am not sure when the vaccine will come out or how effective it will be. I have two colleagues working on a vaccine right now, one on seasonal flu (they get seeds from the WHO every year and this is pretty well understood) the other is working on COVID19 and close to a nervous breakdown. She can't tell me too much but the failures have been reported in the press.

  10.  @gordonramsdale  Cases go up, then hospital admissions , ICU then fatalities will follow. That's exactly what's happened, cases up from 1000 to 28,000 Wed/Thurs. Dipped a little by yesterday, but ICU is now feeling the strain in the NW

Strange they trust one purported statistic but ignore many others but let's park that for the moment. So 1% death rate what's the big deal? Why not lift restrictions Sweden style? (Check Sweden fatalities V other Scandinavian countries) the problem is, is that 1% of the entire population equates to a very large number of deaths. 5% of cases also end up in ICU, how many ICU beds? What's 5% of 60 million? Say half the country has already had it? That's still 1.5 million cases in ICU.

  47.  @oliverek7  Wrong, COVID19 surpassed both heart disease and cancer deaths in the States and the UK at its height. Ie the LEADING cause of death WITH lockdown. Research on this involves reading the published studies and understanding the underlying Science behind it, NOT Facebook, quote mining, nonsense conspiracy theory websites.

  50.  @TomBaldwin2483  Unfortunately idiots on here are suffering from a disease far more contagious than COVID19, its called 'conspiracy fever.' Younger people more susceptible although regular treatment with facts in some studies has been found to be effective. Biggest risk factor is low IQ and regular exposure to Facebook and Twitter. Intensive internet restriction and a short course in biology are the only cure right now. I like that I think I will spam my own post.
