@YukonCornelius8613 And you think electors just willy nilly decide who the president will be. When Americans cast their ballots, they are actually voting for a slate of electors appointed by their state’s political parties who are pledged to support that party’s candidate. The candidate that wins the popular vote in each state usually gets all of the electors (in some states each candidate gets a percentage of the electors based on the popular vote) who then vote for their party's candidate for president. Also in thirty-two states plus the District of Columbia have laws requiring electors to vote for the candidate the party has nominated. That is only the presidency though. Congressmen, Senators, Governors, Mayors, etc. are not voted into office by an electoral college but directly by the popular vote! So in the end it is the PEOPLE who vote for the president. They vote for the electors who then must follow the will of the people. So stop playing games!

@sew_gal7340 And terrorism by the minority is fine? Like when South Africa was an apartheid state and ruled by a minority? That is fine in your book?

@YukonCornelius8613 Not in your nutty world! But everywhere else we're democratic republic where the populace votes to elect representatives who enact laws, make decisions regarding the citizens' tax money and lead the populace. So are you saying that senators and governors and mayors are not elected by the people? Enough with the word play. If we were not a democracy then what would be the point of the 14th, 15th and 19th amendments to the constitution?

LOL! Nonsense! The people still elect the leaders that will represent them and if the leaders don't do their job they are voted out. It is a representative democracy which is pretty much the same as a republic. A republic is a state in which supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives.

@boywonderrr71 Then why is the word god or christian not mentioned once in the constitution?
1
@YukonCornelius8613 It is still a democracy. The people have the supreme power since they can vote anyone out. Also, the constitution is not set in stone. It can be amended by the representatives of the people in this case!

@ronniekregar3482 Yea the right wing sounds so ridiculous when they say that. It is almost like they're trying to do the best to discourage people from voting and they even criticize those people that encourage people to vote or make it easier to vote! It is almost like they are itching for a dictator!

@YukonCornelius8613 You keep playing with words! Democratic or Constitutional republic the leaders are elected by the PEOPLE! The constitution is there to state the what rights the people have and what the elected can or cannot do. The constitution actually requires that more people be able to vote not less!
1
@YukonCornelius8613 Not sure what your point is. We are still a democracy. The constitution is there to make sure whoever does get elected by the PEOPLE isn't free to do whatever he wants. That is why all presidents must pledge to follow the constitution which embodies the laws of this country. You are making absolutely no sense at all. The constitution tells our leaders. You were elected in a democratic process...this what you can and cannot do! that's it! Nothing more!
1
@YukonCornelius8613 YOu have made zero arguments stating that we are not a democracy. Zero! You keep giving me quotes that prove nothing. The only that John Adams quote says is that democracies can die. And yes they can die and do if people decide to give up that right or an authoritarian figure is able to seduce the military into doing his bidding. So get me someone that knows what he's talking about and that can make an actual argument because you are either just trolling or a complete dope!
1
@YukonCornelius8613 I quoted the constitution itself and the democratic process and what it consists of. You lack reading comprehension! YOu completely lost the argument. Definitions matter and so does logic and critical thinking and you have none of those qualities. So get me someone that knows how to formulate an argument. You are pretty worthless and I completely obliterated your ideas! Move on little boy!
