The majority of democrats fought tooth and nail to prevent companies from shutting down and moving overseas. Republicans and their destruction of unions, their promotion of "free" trade with other world economies as well as greedy corporations caused those factories to shut down! By the way, the bigger problem in the US is not welfare for the poor it is corporate welfare and welfare for countries overseas which Repukes love. In my opinion welfare for the poor should not be a way of life but only a temporary method of assistance in hard times.
