  1. Relative depreciation isn't necessarily "worse". It depends on the specifics. Sometimes countries may purposefully seek to depreciate their currencies to make their exports more competitive.

  2.  @Deepthought-42  Yeah, exchange rate movements can reflect market optimism or pessimism but that doesn't mean that the movement itself is necessarily bad. If some country's economic prospects worsen then it's probably better for that country that its currency weakens somewhat.
