  1. I think there's an interesting comparison to be made with my country, Finland. Here homes usually have central heating, lot's of insulation, and double-glazed windows. However, most homes don't have ACs. It rarely gets so hot that just opening the windows isn't enough but, when it is that hot, there's no escape. I remember one Japanese youtuber (named Takagi Gen) who moved to Finland mention that in the summer he had to sleep on the balcony it was too hot inside for him to be able to sleep. So in a hot climate like Japan there's no escape from the cold and in a cold climate like Finland there's no escape from the heat.
