The (blurry) text above the graph explains it. The value of aluminium imports from China has nearly doubled while the tonnage has increased by 20% (meaning most of the rise in value is due to price increase rather than trade volume increase). The graph shows the tonnage.

It's relative.

"Free market competition makes no sense when each country has only 1 grid..." I disagree. Competition in electricity generation still makes sense. Electricity distribution is a different thing.

No, it would be longer. The Channel Tunnel is about 50 km long. The distance between Helsinki and Tallinn is a bit over 80 km as-the-crow-flies and the hypothetical tunnel would likely be somewhat longer than that.

@davidstrelec610 I disagree. Plenty of essentials are handled by the market, e.g. food production and delivery. In most countries you don't see state owned farms or state owned grocery stores. How essential some product is isn't the deciding factor in whether it makes sense to be handled by markets or the government.

Ireland didn't become euroskeptic after becoming rich.

@AngelicaAtomic But Flamanville 3 began construction over 2 year later than Olkiluoto 3 and you need to account for that.

It should be noted that, despite the name, rare earth metals aren't all that rare.

@maxkaufmann833 "A big thing to take away is economic liberalism is not always the solution." It might not be but e.g. ARENH is definitely not liberalism. "Public services should be owned and regulated by the government. Profit motive should be second especially in something as basic as electricity." I'm not sure what you're counting as "public services" here but I don't see a reason why normal market principles wouldn't work in electricity generation also (distribution is another thing). I'm not against government ownership of some generation capacity as such so the government owning nuclear plants is fine. However, the market should be open for any company willing to enter it and the price of electricity should be determined on the market.

It seems there aren't many urbanists in your comments.

@Владислав Пронин "Joining the eu is bad idea ) can you imagine how many hobos from all over Europe will flock to your country?" Norway is already in the EEA and thus subject to the freedom of movement. Full EU membership wouldn't bring any changes in this regard.

Is Flamanville 3 going to be even more delayed than Olkiluoto 3?
