"But if a war broke out between Germany(nato) and Russia (before Finland joining nato), where would the war front be?" Probably at least in the Baltic countries. It seems that risk of being invaded by Russia while outside NATO is greater than the risk of being invaded by Russia as a NATO member. "I believe During ww2 finland was neutral" When WWII start Finland declared neutrality. However, the Soviet Union still invaded Finland in 1939 (Winter War). Then in 1941 Finland participated in Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union (Continuation War).
