"Nice video, but it doesn't shed any light on "soviet perspective"." Well, I think it's the Soviet perspective in the sense of being the official Soviet perspective (which doesn't necessarily comport with how the Soviet leaders actually thought).

The tractors were an insidious ploy. They were surely planning to convert them to Bob Semple tanks.

Panzer vor!

@giadinhhang5988 I can see myself watching videos for either of those.
3
It might have done that too though that's more difficult to say.

Surely not yet at this point?

The fleetlord approves.
1
Yeah. I would have expected them to march through the sea on foot.

20 knots is about 37 km/h, not 47 km/h.

Those are not mutually exclusive.

@baastex "The only way Versailles would actually have succeeded if it had stopped the war from ever happening." But that's just your definition for success. I'm not commenting one whether it's a good or a bad definition but it wasn't what this video was about so it's not an argument for this video being wrong.

@Leonid_Brezhnev1 "Soviet Union was the last state who concluded a non-agression pact with Germany after France, Britain and even Poland" I don't think that's the case, at least for Britain. The only non-aggression pacts Germany had at the start of the war were with Estonian, Latvia, Denmark, Soviet Union and possibly France (but it's unclear to me if the Franco-German Declaration was a pact or not).

@alexhunt7810 On the other hand, the Versailles treaty imposed a significant economic burden on the German population who I think cannot be blamed because they weren't the ones deciding to attack Russia, Belgium, or France.
1
@alexhunt7810 "They voted for the government that declared war." No, they didn't. In the previous general election the Social Democrats won but that didn't matter because the Reichstag didn't have much real power. It didn't have a power to select the government or declare war. The real culprits are the likes of Falkenhayn and Emperor Wilhelm.

DarkEternal6 "Germany also had the 2nd largest air force" Bigger than that of Japan? Or is this due to navy planes not counting towards it?
1
@JohanKlein "the conclusions of the Nuremberg Trials still hold the Nazis responsible for the Katyn massacre" I don't think it is. Wikipedia says that that indictment was dismissed by British and American judges. (Yes I know, Wikipedia can be unreliable but at least it's better than no source at all.)

I'd say real GDP matters more for most purposes than nominal GDP.

Why are the names of the American vessels written in all caps whereas in the names of the Japanese vessels only the initial letter is capitalized (aside from the names that are just alphanumeric sequences)?
1
Stuhlmann?
1
I disagree.

Maybe the flail or plow type mine clearing vehicles can still be useful in cases where the enemy has retreated but the minefields they have laid are still there.

The oil was discovered in the 60s, I believe.
