  1. 2:00 One thing to note is that a trade surplus is not necessarily a good sign for Russia. It could be but it could also mean that sanctions prevent useful imports. Thus their exports may just cause them to stockpile forex that they can't easily spend on something useful.

  4.  @damyjuk  I disagree. It's about as easy to contain in the real world Turkey. The Central Bank just needs to run a tighter policy by raising rates. Trouble is, Erdoğan doesn't allow it. If he ran a similar monetary policy in a hypothetical self-contained Turkey the result would roughly the same, maybe with a little bit more delay.

[emphasis mine] Sometimes, the word "shell" is used also for the cartridge case (I think more commonly in American English and less so in British English) but that's non-standard usage. "George Washington did refer to their cannon ammo as shells" That's because in those days artillery projectiles were mostly solid balls. They weren't shells because they didn't have explosive filler. (I think mortars may still have used explosive shells, though.)

Zoners oversupply low-density suburban areas and undersupply dense urban areas making the price of the former lower and the price of the latter higher than what they'd be if the supply of each better matched the demand.

  29.  @SmokWawelski4D  Fast breeders were abandoned for technical and economic reasons, not political ones. They often had issues like leakages that led to long interruptions in production. In France there was a fast breeder named Superphénix that produced electricity commercially. However, the issues I mentioned caused its capacity factor to be under 8% (!) while many regular nuclear plants achieve over 90% capacity factor. Fast breeders just seem to be too difficult to make economically viable (even though they're demonstrably technically possible).

That also applies when the shell and propellant charge are separate. So those howitzers do, in fact, use shells.

Getting inflation under control requires high rates temporarily whereas not doing that at all implies permanent high inflation which causes continuous damage. In the present situation there is no painless alternative but not raising rates is clearly the worse option in the long run.
