@Blitz Gaming654 "the Boring company is not a failure it still active and doing well" I don't think it has delivered any products that make sense. E.g. the Las Vegas loop has a laughably low capacity. I don't see what value that company is going to add.

@Blitz Gaming654 A tram can be powered by a third rail or an overhead wire so it doesn't need much of a battery. Steel wheels last longer and have lower rolling resistance than rubber wheels. A single tram has a much higher capacity than a car (or several cars) so costs per passenger (including for paying the driver) are lower. What are the advantages of cars? Basically flexibility in moving individual people or small groups. This is irrelevant for operating a fixed line like the Loop. Using vehicles that can only carry a few people doesn't take advantage of the economics of scale.

@daniels2620 I do though he's far from the only one criticizing the Las Vegas Loop (though I think he's the one who used the Budapest M1 comparison).

"They should just focus on starlink" Starlink is bad.

@Blitz Gaming654 "I don't think 4200 to 4600 an hour is low for a test" I think it is low. Also note that the highest hourly ridership outside tests has been below 1,400 / h. I've seen this system compared to the absolutely tiny M1 metro line in Budapest which has a ridership of about 80,000 per day on workdays. That's something like 3,300 / h if we divide the ridership evenly on all 24 h in a day. However, the peak ridership is likely above that maximum capacity achieved in that Las Vegas Loop test. This is in spite of how small M1 is. Putting rubber wheeled cars in that tunnel is just stupid. They could have just put rails and small trams into the tunnel and that would have significantly increased the capacity and cut down operating costs. I don't see why the Boring Company would use cars instead other than the fact that Musk also has a car company but no company that manufactures trams.
