India is much more densely populated because it's a fertile region. In the past, populations of different regions tended to rise to the level that the land could support and even today the ratios of the populations of different regions tend to be similar to those of the past (though not in every case) even though currently the world population is below what the world could support (at least in the short term).

@HBToastedAlmond To my knowledge, the French nuclear plants are just closed for maintenance because maintenance had been delayed due to the pandemic. France has also been building a new reactor (Flamanville 3) though it's far behind schedule.

@HBToastedAlmond But in any case, temporary shutdowns due to maintenance are very different from a planned permanent shutdown as a political decision like we saw in Germany. I still think what you said about environmentalists having political power and causing nuclear shutdowns only applies to Germany and not the whole EU.
