  1.  @iam1264  The interest rate hikes were the right thing to do because of inflation. This bank did not manage its interest rate risk properly.

You can’t privatize the profits, but socialize the losses.”" I don't think that is saying it all that well. Even in this case SVB's owners lost all their equity but that's not enough to dissuade excessive risk taking. It can still make sense for the bank's owners' point of view to take big risks; if all goes well they get a lot of money; if it goes badly they lose their entire investment into that bank but not more than that as anything beyond that is paid by someone else.
