@gregh7457 I've seen several videos on girls that do this and pretty much always say that it's because they need money for hosts. It was mentioned in this video too. Also, I think this phenomenon is more recent than Japan's economic troubles.

@القربعينأمهغزال I'd imagine that at least some Japanese men also did that sort of thing in some foreign countries. Today, there are many European and American men who visit Thailand for these kinds of reasons. I'm sure some Japanese men did the same (and perhaps still do).

@zevil89 "It just highlights the economic decline of Japan for the average person." From what I understand, that doesn't actually seem to be the case. I've heard from many sources that the reason why many young Japanese women/girls have recently started doing this isn't because they're especially poor. They don't need to do to get by. They need it in order to treat their favorite hosts. That kind of thing has exploded in popularity recently and can often get quite expensive.

From what I've heard, these girls aren't usually super poor anything. They aren't doing it because they need it to get by. They're doing it so they have enough money to treat their favorite host.
