  1. Your point about Chechnya and self-determination is a bit ironic. Russia is formally a federal country and the federal subjects used to have a lot of autonomy. However, Putin basically removed most of that autonomy. The autonomy may remain on paper but the federal subjects have been placed under de facto control from Moscow. However, there is one exception: Chechnya. Ramzan Kadyrov and Chechnya is afforded a lot more de facto autonomy than any other federal subject.
