"The USA and western countries voted no..?" If you're talking about the draft resolution proposed by Brazil, then no. Only the USA voted against it, not any other Western country.

@ThereIsAlwaysaWay2 "97% voted for it or either abstained." That can't be right. The security council only has 15 members so even 1 voting against would bring the percentage down to 93.33%.

"Russia could send some American ships to the bottom if it wanted" Kinzhals are ballistic missiles. They can't maneuver all that much. Can they really hit moving targets like ships?

@Nerwesta I think Nimitz class carriers can exceed 30 knots. If an approaching missile is detected, I suspect the ships that appear to be targeted would try to evade it.
