@johnwilliamson9657 "No, Kissinger never said anything like that." This is a bit of an exaggeration. There is a quote like this about South Vietnamese leaders attributed to him which I gave above. It is uncertain whether he actually said it because there are only secondary sources for the quote. However, it would be an exaggeration to say that he definitely didn't say it because there is at least a clear possibility that he did. But, like I noted, the full quote (whether real or not) in context does not in any case say what OP seems to think it does. Its message is basically just that Nguyễn Văn Thiệu should not be deposed.

@TheNaturalResetProtocol "Yes eating will give you energy, but before it gives you the energy, it takes energy" But a typical illness lasts at least a couple of days which is longer than what it takes to get energy from your meal. You can also eat something with very easily absorbed energy (i.e. sugar). If you skip meals and go hungry then your body will try conserve energy; doing that when your body needs energy to fight the illness seems like a bad timing.

Saying it like that is extremely misleading. Firstly, it's not known for certain whether Kissinger said this quote that's attributed to him, but for the sake of argument let's assume he did. More importantly, putting the quote like that is a partial sentence taken out of context. The full quote is: "Nixon should be told that it is probably an objective of Clifford to depose Thieu before Nixon is inaugurated. Word should be gotten to Nixon that if Thieu meets the same fate as Diem, the word will go out to the nations of the world that it may be dangerous to be America's enemy, but to be America's friend is fatal." [emphasis mine] Note the word "if" there. It means that Kissinger not making an unqualified statement about the US as a friend but rather a conditional statement. Clearly his message was that Nguyễn Văn Thiệu should not face the same fate as Ngô Đình Diệm who was deposed and killed in a coup.
