  13.  @aditikule2482  I am a bengali from assam. And I come from a really small town and have actually never seen things you've mentioned happen here. Sometimes I would see people curse each other as "napiter jaat" "chhotoloker jaat" but it's always limited to that. I have lived in other towns of assam and the same story everywhere. In addition to all of that surnames do not usually give our castes away. I am a Dey and even though kayastha we have an obc certificate which is so common here. Most bengalis I meet in Assam usually identify with a lower caste and have forged documents even if the real borno is kayastha/brahmin etc.
