English is neutral. I see those people even in Assam who dare to speak Hindi here as if everyone else must be speaking their language. This is in the backdrop of people of East and South being told they are less Indians if they don't know Hindi. Funnily enough these are the same people who live here for years and still don't speak the language of locals. Will always remember that Bihari who once said it very casually that Hindi is the language of Indians as if we are foreigners.

@ßævl You don't even know me. What is "you guys" then? I am a Bengali from Assam. I see the North and West Indians say "Hindi is the Language of Indians" all the time. Your counter was that most of them have their own native languages? You think I don't know that? They reject their own languages, set up Hindi schools in Assam and refuse to speak Assamese. What I do now is just pretend I can't speak Hindi. I neither understand the premise of your arguments nor the conclusion. What I do understand is the condescending tone. One doesn't need to be educated about the Hindi scene of North-East if he has lived there all his life. Come to my city Nagaon. I live near Amolapatty region. We will visit MarwariPatty and you can disprove me that Marwaris don't even use Hindi.

@ßævl what are you talking about? I was talking about something else. It's you who invited this convo. North-East is a tribal belt sounds as absurd as New-Mexico is a Mexican belt. People here aren't organized in tribes anymore. Why do you talk in such a condescending manner though? In Japanese we call that ひねくれ者。

@ßævl btw I'm in science so no idea of sociology. here's what you should next time. write in bulleted points what I didn't know. because to me at least it seems like we agree on a lot of things. be it where tribal population is highest or whether or not Marwadis have their own language or whether Biharis have their own language. You came to me with the contention that I'm uneducated. you clearly said that I should get an education. I think people should not be insulting each other especially if the other person is a stranger. Well that is our society taught us. Anyways, I would like you to show me what is it that we disagree upon because as it currently stands I mention North Indians refusing to use a language other than Hindi in Assam and you mention that many have their own native language which you believe, I assume, is a proof that North Indians aren't promoting Hindi in NE India. I think I'm not capable enough to argue from logic here. It reminds of ancient Greek logicians who would sit all day in a chamber trying to determine the number of teeth a Horse has. Just go out and count! It seems that people aren't courageous enough to actually confront these people here. I am. Oh wait you said something about victim card. What's that? The only time where I use victim card is when talking about Bengali-Assamese clashes of India. Never had another point in my life where I use that. Okay maybe the colonies of South Asia. I'm do not crave for the pity of anyone. I don't need that. The people of north east must get united to fight these people's Hindi-Agenda. Unless you are a migrant worker I see no reason to be speaking Hindi in Assam.
