The US doesn't have much of a ship building industry, it isn't even in the top 15.

@rap3208 The only reason why the world was forced to use the USD after 1971 was because the US was backed by oil. All oil transactions was in USD, today that isn't the case. More and more countries are working out deals to transact in their own currencies. Why does the world need your USDs to be the intermediary? A good analogy would be, the consumer can bypass the retailer by shopping online. Consumers that want better prices can bypass online businesses and buy directly from China. They don't need the middle man, they can simply cut them out and buy products for less money.
