Who cares about that CEO.

When people get supervised by computer algorithms, they have to work at the pace of the machine. If people can't meet the quotas then they are punished. Corporations will simply say if you don't like it then get outta here, we have thousands of people who can do your job. That's the dilemma for most of these unskilled workers.

@Gralin James Pritchard In the current system we have, efficiency is never rewarded with higher pay. It simply doesn't happen. The employee or employees are paid the same, and in some cases the number of employees are reduced due to this efficiency as well.

@toma2897 Businesses try to get their money's worth out of their workers, it's capitalism. Businesses don't hire people, so they can have a lot of idle time on their hands. It's a conflict of interests for both parties, the workers want better working conditions, and the businesses want efficiency. If a compromise can't be reached then the big businesses can do one of two things, shut down in that city, and set up somewhere else. Or, they can automate as many jobs as possible, and keep a few workers. That's it.

@jeremygibson6063 A gallon of gasoline, regular unleaded is about $4.25/gal.

@jeremygibson6063 Sales taxes are high, like almost 10%, state income tax is about 15%(If you make less than $100k, they will take much less than 15%), and those are the only taxes you have to worry about. Property taxes can be high if you bought your home for $500k to $1 million. The % of that tax is about 1.07%. If you bought your home for $500,000, you will pay about $5350/year. The traffic congestion is also pretty bad in California. I still live in California, because I paid off my home. Once that is paid off, the other expenses really aren't that much.

@jeremygibson6063 The cost of living is what drives people out of California, not taxes. Apartment rent costs about $1500 to $1800 for a one bedroom apartment.

The democrat party is an inept party. We need a new party.

@fomori2 If you don't have a lot of education or skills then you don't have a lot of choices. When I was a university student back in the mid 1990s, I took crappy jobs, like working at super markets, McDonald's, a customer service company, etc. I can tell you that it was crappy. After you get a university degree, and some skills life does get better.
3
@fomori2 It isn't like people have any other choices. In the USA, we don't have a good welfare system. If you don't find any work even if it is crappy work then there is very little the government can do for you. This is why we have so many homeless people in the streets of America.
3
@fomori2 The system is definitely broken, and it is a race to the bottom. If workers don't have protections then they will be exploited like they had been for the past 30 years.

@madmartigan9190 Isn't walking a lot good for your health?
2
@madmartigan9190 Most of those jobs are entry level jobs, and people want to turn it into a career. I think that is where the problems lie. I did a lot of crappy entry level jobs when I was in my early 20s as a university student. I just did it to pay my way through school, so I would have less debt after I graduated. I didn't like doing those crappy jobs, but I did it because I had to. Now, I don't have to take crappy jobs like that, because I have the education to do better things.

@jeremygibson6063 The cost of living in Cali is a lot more expensive compared to other states. If you want to live here and work here, you need to make at least $85,000/year.

Addicted to power to the end, I suppose.

They are easy to fool and cheat. LOL

DOGE will replace more American jobs with people from India. That will make the government more efficient by hiring people who will work longer hours for less. LOL

DC is a dangerous place to live.
1
@lotwizzard1748 I only use them when I have like a few items. If I have 50 or more items, I still use the cashier. Scanning 50 to 100 items is just hard labor.
1
@lotwizzard1748 Doesn't change the fact that millions of people still use it.

Looks like the Democrats are going to lose in 2024. LOL

Stupid people voted for him, so its on them.
1
I don't trust the Republicans and the Democrats, neither of them are good.
1
The reason why so many people flock to social media platforms is because it is free. I simply won't use Twitter.
1
Good luck with that, a lot of people live on some kind of government assistance in Cali.

Cowards shouldn't become cops, and if they are found of cowardice they need to be fired. They need to get rid of police unions.
