In purchasing power parity, China is ahead of the US now. The US built less than 10 ships last year, and China built 1,400 ships last year.
221
More countries should join BRICS, competition is always a good thing.
172
That is amazing. Infrastructure improves the lives of people.
146
China is becoming more self sufficient. Chinese chips powering Chinese smartphones with a Chinese operating system. Sounds good to me.
71
The US is preventing Chinese companies from investing in the US, so there is no need to keep US treasury bonds or use the USD.
62
Zeihan and G. Chang have never been right with a track record like that why would anyone listen to those people?
57
The US is a declining power, and you can see the signs of this by seeing the inept leadership of that country.
54
Tariffs against Chinese increases costs, because many products that are manufactured in the US are assembled with parts and components from China. Imports from China are less expensive, so putting tariffs on those items causes inflation to go up. In a time when you have a lot of inflation, it just adds to the problem. There are high tariffs on trucks and farm equipment, and this adds to the cost for the production and transport cost of food. When you have more and more inflation, other costs go up, like insurance cost. If vehicles and parts for vehicles cost more, car insurance goes up as a result. This is why life is getting unaffordable in the US.
49
China helped Zimbabwe, Indonesia to build a lithium processing plant in Zimbabwe, and a nickel processing plant in Indonesia. This is a win win for both China and the countries China is working with. African countries can get more value from their natural resources, and this would help industrialize their economies. At the same time, China can get the resources China needs.
43
Africa would benefit greatly working with China, and abandoning the West.
36
The US economy is falling apart, so they are just projecting their anxieties on a successful country.
35
I live in the US, and I lived here 41 years, and I can tell you it has gotten worse not better. The current literacy rate in the US is proof of that. The literacy rate as it stands in the US is 79%, and back in 1980, it was about 96%.
32
@mickeydodds1 Commercial ships. The US cannot even maintain all the ships that they have as it stands.
31
China has a complete supply chain.
29
Sounds good, we need a competing financial system. Countries that sell natural resources can get fair prices.
19
In an age where automation and AI threaten hundreds of millions of jobs, having a large population isn't an asset it is a liability. It's better to have a smaller population with a highly educated work force, and more people becoming part of the middle class. This way, you have a higher per capita income, and a much larger consumer economy.
19
Automation and robotics will reduce the need for people in the future, so population decline might not be a bad thing.
16
The professor makes a lot of sense.
15
@解思思 What I meant having a choice. Competition is better than monopoly.
14
Why don't these people put tariffs on chemical precursors for meds, processed rare earths, circuit boards, etc. It would be funny when chump becomes prez and puts 200% tariffs on those things. The US economy would grind to a halt. ROFL 🤣
11
Petro dollar is no more, and this is the beginning of the end of USD. USD will still be used, but less of it will be used. This will cause a inflation crisis in the US.
9
In PPP(Purchasing Power Parity) China already surpassed the US about eight years ago. China is ahead of the US in 37 out of 44 key technologies. In 5 years, China will be producing high end semiconductors, and jet engines for passenger aircraft. China already leads in EV production.
9
It is about time the world has an alternative.
7
It is just Sinophobia.
7
@mauricelee77 Not enough money is used on education.
6
These tariffs caused more inflation. For example, the price of cars cost 25% to 30% more due to these tariffs. Most of the parts that go into producing more complex machines, like automobiles are imported from China and other countries. As a result of car prices going up, less people can afford to buy it. If you have to repair stuff, most of those parts are from China. Now, it costs more to repair your air conditioner to your car. All of this contributes to inflation, and this makes people poorer.
6
India falls behind when it comes to infrastructure, a educated population, and income equality.
3
中国 is an sovereign country, while Japan is not.
2
This is what happens when you have a old fogey running the government, he is so clueless.
2
@TheresaYipLF54 Exactly.
2
@tonysu8860 Whatever troll.
2
@JustJamesDean You can believe whatever you like, but reality is reality.
2
Us Chinese are just smarter, this is why they try to pigeon hole us.
2
Chump is a con-man.
1
@josephguo6256 The US has more lawyers than China, the US has about 1,330,000, and China has 677,000. Such a progressive nation the US is. LOL
1
My friend who is a Sikh said Indians are cheap cheats.
1
Quality(China) vs. Quantity(India). The Chinese people have more purchasing power than India where people don't have modern plumbing, automobiles, feed rats, and worship cows instead of eating them.
1
@widodoakrom3938 China is better than India. We all know that.
1
@afizi1213 The nature of the collective West has always been parasitic.
1
@aoeu256 You're a perfect example of the US failed educational system.
1
@aoeu256 You sound like d-olt.
1
@SUHSeungJi Just look at the financial decisions most muricans make. They are completely mathematically illiterate as well.
1
@SUHSeungJi The US is a declining power.
1
BRICS has everything to form a self sufficient economic block, they have a lot of natural resources, industries, technology, and markets. They can use their productive capacities to develop their own economies rather than letting the West consume it for themselves.
1
China is still the most business friendly country.
1
The US strategy isn't working. Their days are numbered.
1
@CattleFarmer667 The problem is a lot of jobs aren't needed. My mom asked me a silly question a few days ago, like don't they use people in customer service call centers? I talked to a computer voice, and I wanted to talk to a human. I explained to her that it costs too much to hire humans, and using automation is much less expensive. She said, humans still have to be used, she is about 82 by the way. LOL
1
@albertlevinsaber6835 You just wait until programmable humanoid robot get developed and mass produced. Most of em will be produced in China.
1
The reason why the US is putting these barriers against Chinese EVs is, because they know they can't compete. The world is a bigger market than the US, and the US can't stop it.
1
China is still importing a lot of stuff to the US. China must get their assets out of the US, because those assets can be taken. Just look at what is happening to Tiktok. China can still use dollars, but they don't have to use the US SWIFT system to transact in dollars. They can use the Chinese banking system to transaction in dollars. China should not be holding US equities, US treasury bonds, US real estate, or businesses in the US. I heard how these people commenting on social media, like let's just take Chinese real estate holdings without compensation, or force a sale.
