What I don't understand is, if nafta was so damn terrible, how did we produce so much money ahead during the Clinton years? Clinton left Bush with a very prosperous economy. Wouldn't NAFTA be some part of that?

@SaraphDarklaw Yeah I guess. Maybe I'm taking the name too literally. Is like the pipeline from Canada to Mexico. The US makes rental and construction money making them rich, but messing up our environment in the process. Seems to me its the businesses that choose to move to cheaper labor areas. And I think I did hear that back then. We're just not made for having our own manufacturing anymore. Business owners are greedy, it's expensive to live and wages don't really keep up. Years back, us businesses paid decent wages, still made great profits and it didn't take a college masters to have the great American dream. Now the ceo, s have to make endless profits but workers struggle.

I don't know who'd want that label leaving. Moscow mitch? I wouldn't want to leave office or a job with that resume.

@Embrigh Yeah, I don't know all about how it was supposed to work. Hard pressed to see Republicans going along with anything Clinton did without an argument at least. Seems many good ideas can be twisted and somehow used for profit. But as I remember the profit when into American gov coffers, that's why our deficit was actually going down. As for farmers, if their produce was getting sold and subsidized, they shouldn't be hurting. Just like dim bulb, now. He's got these stupid wars going on, the farmers have to be paid by tax dollars and crops go to waste. It's so insane to me with all all the brilliant financial brains in our country,, how we end up with a mess all the time.

@SaraphDarklaw Ya know, in a way, that does give poorer countries like Mexico a boost up. If the companies shared business with, like Mexico, they have an opportunity to stay where they grew up. Maybe make something of the country,, besides running and producing drugs. But, it has to keep stuff here too. But honestly,,,, I think the biggest problem is once again,, greed. The big shots keep the brunt of the profits. Maybe I'm wrong,,

@Embrigh I agree totally that farming here, ranching, etc has definitely become commercial. That's sad. But why? The inability for local farmers to compete with already conglomerates? There has to be a reason, besides just NAFTA. But I'm not sure. Farmers kids not wanting to farm? Therefore, family farms get bought out cause kids prefer cash? Here in Florida it's orange groves. Family groves for decades. Suddenly turning into subdivisions. Kinda hairy. I've been in home building all my adult life, but I can say, it seems like real estate and construction has the most to gain from taking away farms and ranches etc.
