@SHAK3 N And they were telling her she had every right to do so. Just not wherever she wanted. Ashley had every right to protest outside the capital. Every right. Vet or not. But she had 0 right to bash the windows, doors, whatever, to get into the capital and threaten anyone. I'm a vet too, but that doesn't give me the right to do illegal acts.

@tadrobinson7709 Your tax dollars are used to build and maintain government buildings. It doesn't make them yours. People pay taxes to help maintain government and a multitude of other things. It doesn't make them ours. Paying taxes doesn't mean everything the tax dollars do belong to those who pay them.

Paul If they were coming through the window, onto property this guard was protecting, and he felt threatened, its self defense. Just like if you're in your house and several people out of a mob are coming in thru the window you have every right to shoot. And he was very remorseful. He could have kept shooting. And I'll tell you, when people are violently smashing thru a window, yelling obscenities and threats, who wouldn't have. All u gun advocates, praising gun usage to protect yourselves, sure turn your story when the shoe is on the other foot. PS. He warned them to back up and stop. That's procedure. And if he felt threatened, deadly force is procedure as well. Most cops never, want to use their guns. You'd think any sane person would have backed off seeing a gun in their face. Obviously sanity was in short supply with the trump soldiers of idiocy.

People have the right to make their own decisions as to follow up on it or walk away from it. Babbitt was an adult. With her own mind and decision making abilities. This is why the DOJ is having so much trouble going after him on the 6th. There is the right to freedom of speech. How that speech affects certain people, he's supposedly not responsible for. Which in a sense is true. If someone tells another person, that money in the bank is actually yours, over and over. Then says, go get your money, don't take no for an answer. The balls in your court as to whether you do it or not. Babbitt did it. Her choice. Unfortunate but true.

It answers the question, why Ashley got herself shot. Accident or not. These people did things anyone would be arrested for, but acting like the law, doesn't apply to them. If the guards at the capital did invite people in," as claimed". Why did people smash windows and doors to get in. This crap, that there was no insurrection, is bullshit. And everyone of the people who were in the capital, should be charged. Different degrees of sentence, obviously. But charged, none the less. And, the instigators should be as well. And, if the instigators were members of Congress, removed immediately. Thats what's pissing me off at the DOJ. Oh yeah, punish the regular folk. Ignore the people in office, that were right there, in planning it.

@ohgawd Exactly! This was definitely no slight disturbance by a few unruly sightseeing visitors, like the right wing talking heads want everyone to believe. And unfortunately we'll never know what Babbitt would have done if she had made it in, god rest her soul. But she was warned, probably more than once to stay OUT! Those people were and are, thugs. Thugs in djts behalf. In my opinion, their damn lucky that more weren't shot. A 10 to 1 on a police officer would give legal right to shoot. And many of them are probably damn lucky more guards didn't fire on them.
