  10. I guess, but how big a vibrator does a phone need? And, we are all talking 🍎s and 🍊s. All the outfits have the ability to create a nice phone, with great hardware and features. My main point was price. I think the new companies have proven that you can build a quality product, and not charge twice what it costs for production, overhead, etc and still make a nice profit. Their attitude is,,, why should we? People are still gonna buy. We have them them in our proverbial pocket.

  11. Thanks Zack, I had asked if the battery would be self replaceable. Does look doable. Does peeling the back off distort it for reuse, or do you have to buy new? Also, how expensive is the mother board, if charge port becomes sloppy? Or, would a competent repair shop be able to resolder new port? Thanks again, good video as usual.

  12. teakertown If I'm correct, once you pull the back, you can pop the plug on the battery. That will shut it down. You should probably get repair video on computer or another phone to make sure you pull correct cable.

  13. teakertown Yes I do. Just watched video and yes when u pull the back the battery cable is eligible for unplugging. Course after this amount of time, I'm sure your battery is dead. 😀 Good luck.

  14. teakertown Do like the pure. I'm not hard to please though, came from Virgin Mobile where you are stuck using the phones they offered. Switched to cricket mid last year, got the pure 32g version black no moto maker frills, but yes, with my budget the pure was it for me. Always wanted front speakers,,, and nice screen. The pure has it. If it ever gives out I'll get another with 64gb, but 32 is actually plenty, especially when I'm used to 8,,,talk about no storage. Mostly I hear good reviews. To bad Motorola sold out again. Lenovo probably won't keep the X series alive. Be nice if they did. Moto x pure 2,,,,, I could dig it. take care.

  15. Would have suggested turning over and tapping several times to dislodge any debris before pulling new glass in place. Picking wouldn't insure all particles out. Amazing u can buy that little piece of glass but guess Samsung does have extra,,, somewhere. Thanks Zack.

  19. Did look like the bottom speaker was pretty large. Course not sure how much was speaker and how much was sound box. Seemed to me, they had most space occupied. Trust me, I'm no HTC fanboy, but try to be fair. But your right about price. There's actually no reason in my thinking, for any phone costing more than 500 bucks. Hard to believe the little outfits use cheaper parts to obtain those more realistic prices.

  23. Hi Zach, Do love the tear down videos. Do you think it's practical to do a self tear down of the moto x pure, to replace the battery? Don't need it now but do realize that over time it will wear out. Also the charge port, same phone, you said is not replaceable. Is the component it's attached to replaceable by us, or is that something better left to pro? Thanks for all your videos, very informative. take care.

  26. Another little item I wonder could be added to cell phones,, a reset button. Very tiny, but very handy for all the new non removable battery phones. When rebooting totally is impossible. Just a thought.

  30. Very cool. Does make you realize all those tiny components. Talk about micro processors. Looks like design is a real factor with LG. Only 14 screws. Wonder how that's gonna hold up to the bend test. I have the LG stylo original, very strong phone, curious to see that one in durability test. Funny thing, only gorilla glass one, but screen seems very dense. cleans as easy as day one. Thanks Zack for the g6 tear down.

  33. Im assuming what finally fades out to the heat from your lighter is the plastic coating that layers the glass on the screen. So maybe the new harder glass resists the flame better, even though it scratched at a 6, like most others.

  38. Not sure any amount of adhesive would prevent a forced bend,,, seeing s the screen is separate from the keyboard. But as many people say, most of us won't force bend our phones. But yes, you'd think they would have adhered the screen, cause many people carry their phones in their rear pocket and butt bend would probably do a similar test .Butt,, ass we know, the BB is a business person phone and no business person carries their phones in their rear pocket.

  47. I also like the idea of Stainless Steel frame vs aluminum, they weren't the first though. Alcatel idol 4, 4S have a Stainless Steel frame too for considerably less price. Does seem a very strong phone though but seems they have been making them that way for a while. It's a shame they're greed gets in the way of a good phone.

  51. I have never used a screen protector. Knock on wood, none have any scratches and I have about 10. I do use a case with a slip on holster and that covers the screen when lm working or my phone is in my truck at work. I have never carried my phone in my pants pocket. I do construction and I'm sure my phone would get wrecked at work or even shopping for lumber or other building materials.

  53. Obviously people ate the problem. Sure, it's the weapons, no matter what weapon, that do the damage, but it's the people that use them that are the trigger. Unfortunately almost any of us can be made to be an assassin or killer when provoked enough. I was in service. I know the power of guns and other types of weapons. And the feeling of power, having one in your possession gives us.. They give normally passive individuals a feeling of equality in power. They take the 5 ft 140 pound average man or woman and turn them into a force to be reckoned with. So,, you have a person that may have been or felt in the shadows all their lives, with a new felt power, they aren't mentally ready for. Look at terrorism. You see these undernourished Arabs, barely able to carry the weapons they have. But the weapons turn these frail people's into a force killing and making the world a mess. Guns give the average a power like never before felt. What's the answer to how to slow or stop the wrong persons getting one? We do need to figure it out,, cannot be ignored. Thanks Zack for even bringing the topic to the phone gang. It's a subject that truly needs to be figured out. Our politicians certainly aren't getting it done.

  57. The thing about recycling is as usual, greed. In our city in FLA, they seem to recycle only what makes them money. We do have curbside pickup, but the things u are allowed to put in are limited to things that are profitable. Typical. So I don't trust that some of what we put in, gets separated at a location and put into trash anyway. Thanks Zack for the informative video.

I wish ud do an episode on styrofoam. And why it's still in huge use but that's one of those things our recycling won't take. I guess this is what I mean by greed. Seems if there's no reward for it monetarily, they do nothing about it. Thanks again.

  63. The idea is cool, but totally unpractical. For just home use maybe but to carry everywhere would never be practical. Would last about a month if you're careful. But people with a grand to throw away will no doubt buy it.

  68. I'm pretty sure the back of the Pixel is metal except for the small glass over the camera right? At least it's that way on my Pixel 2 XL. Personally I like metal backs on phones,,,,but that's boring for some, so the v companies go with the sandwich phone,,,glass back and front. I always use a Spigen or an Incipio case on any phone.   71. I think I'll just live with a notch. It's notch, that big of a deal to me. Less parts to worry about. I'd say leave the adhesive alone. Probably makes for a stronger backplate. Plus I always use a case anyway. Thanks Zack. Ah, be a bit more careful on the next one. Those cable repairs probably aren't cheap. Unless u,,,, do it yourself. I watched your video on the battery replacement of the Moto X pure, and did my own. Problem was, I didn't disconnect the little buttons control cable and it got messed up when I pulled the battery. Then I watched another video and that dude pulled the little connector before pulling the battery. So, by the time i bought an official Motorola battery, 39 bucks. A good set if screw drivers 25 bucks. New adhesive 10 bucks. I could have paid someone to do it and guaranteed a working phone. That'll teach me. As for the motorized camera,,,, guess may be the future. But I'm not a bezel hater. Those good front facing stereo speakers have to go somewhere. Still interesting seeing the insides of phones. Keep up the good work Zack.

  74. I think you were a little hard on LG g5 with the metal part. If it's metal with a coating,, it's still metal. The coating doesn't change that. Cars, planes etc are painted metal as well, but still metal. Just saying.

  81. Personally I like the grippy coating on the Pixel 2 and 2xl. The aluminum frame gives rigidity and strength and the coating gives a bit of protection and grip incase u don't wanna use a case. Anyway, its a bad ass look and there's nothing wrong with it.

I say this every time, but if only Nokia would incorporate front facing stereo speakers, I'd be diggin them so much more.

  83. Was just going to say, everything seems relatively easy to remove considering the strength of the phone when u did the bend test. Seems the phone doesn't rely on the back for strength either. I honestly kinda appreciate the rubber backed phones verses glass and even metal. If textured with some style, the look is nice and grippy allowing you to lay the phone down and not expect it to slide off of whatever u set it on. LG has proven u can have a removable battery and strongly build phone too. without relying on adhesive by the time for strength. Thanks Zack for that particular test and disassembly.
