I'm a Tampa resident since 1956 at the age of 4. When my dad got out of the army and built his, our house himself. Needless to say, he was a carpenter.
I've seen Tampa grow to,,abit more population than our resources will allow. But that's fla. Yeah the wealthy have their spots. But for the most part, we're a mid to lower income population. My opinion. I've worked here as a carpenter myself since also getting out of the army back in 1975. Tuff job to make money in, unless you're the boss. Which I finally achieved in 1990. But only small time remodeling contractor, one man band. I built my house in 1989, myself for a loan of 32,000. A stilt home that I was doing with my dad for 15 in years. Yeah, Tampa pretty much started out with Cuban influence and population but also many transplants from people like my dad and his dad that came from Missouri to find work. It's okay a city to live. Hell I came back after a bout in the service and seeing the Midwest and the north. So at that time, being here was definitely preferred. But now I'm one of the senior citizens, and gotta say,,,,,, it's okay. Be better with more money? But where wouldn't.
