This is exactly my thoughts. After hearing how stressed a submersible or anything gets, going down to 3,4,5 atmospheres then coming back to surface. The cylinder being made from strands of carbon fiber would compress differently from the titanium rings and end caps. After several dives i believe it became just too much and the carbon fiber may have separated from the titanium rings. They were adhered to the rings by adhesive if a type. Like you said, too many different materials together allow for potential problems to arise. Very unfortunate for sure.

Thank you for giving this much untold story. It's so, so tragic, these events. Events we don't even know about. No movies, Not enough known of, tragic events in our history. Unnecessary human loss. Mostly only family members and friends, have memories of this tragedy. And probably many that go seemingly unnoticed by many. Thank you again for this. And my heart goes out to all the families that lost people in tragedies similar.
