We have to realize in something like this, Pompeo is trumps brain. I don't think Trump wants war but Pompeo probably drives him to it as a camouflage effort for the impeachment stuff. Hell, McConnell has already made a point of using an Iran attack as an excuse to jab at the impeachment.
