  1. Who didd this? Not the usual prototype, me thinks, rather . . . Recall the character, Frankie, from John Stienbeck's Cannery Row. Doc runs out of the jail, in tears, realizing there is nothing they can do for Frankie. A sophisticated murder this was not, rather, someone who has one friend did this, his friend being his knife. He wasn't a great planner but is very, very good with a knife.
