There is NOTHING in the Bible that says "the earth is 6,000 years old." Back in the Medieval days, some Bishop went through the Bible, added up any references to time, threw in plenty of assumptions and said it was 6,00 years old. To claim this as a "fact" is like sticking with the notion of the "four humors" and bloodletting. If you want to make a Bible literalist's heads explode, just point out that Genesis has TWO completely different versions on the story of creation. One version says six days, the other says three. When they put the actual Bible together under Constantine there were a lot of contradictions in the old scrolls. They couldn't decide which of the MANY versions of Genesis to include so they put two of them together.
