  1. There isn't any "war on coal." There's been less demand for coal because of an abundance of natural gas brought about by fracking---which Republicans also worship. Natural gas is cheaper and cleaner, so more power plants are using it.

  2. Edward Bernayse666 well said. Oddly enough, these coal miners are more likely to keep voting for Republicans who oppose the kind of assistance and job training that could help them.
