  2. there's people on food stamps who already HAVE jobs but they don't make enough to live on because the min wage hasn't kept pace with inflation. Corporate profits are at all-time highs: have them pay their employees enough to live on and there'll be fewer people on food stamps----and less of a drain on public services overall. We're not subsidizing the "working poor," we're subsidizing the corporations that screw them over.

  3. it wasn't "socialism" it was the progressive tax policies of guys like Eisenhower who had highest tax rates above 50% and used it to build that big govt program known as the interstate highway system. It was the big govt space program that gave us huge advances in technology. It was the big govt investments in medicine that eliminated polio and other diseases from this country. It was big govt spending on infrastructure that allowed our economy to grow and keep bridges from crumbling
