When Republicans in Pennsylvania passed a voter ID law to combat "voter fraud" they openly admitted they couldn't find a single case of it happening in their state and one of them said it was about helping Mitt Romney in the upcoming election.

mgeek1 No doubt. "voter fraud" is practically nonexistent, only 10 cases out of 146 million votes cast. Republicans would rather disenfranchise thousands based on the myth that in-person "voter fraud" could somehow influence an election. They're really worried about college students, minorities and old people voting. That's why in Texas you can use a gun permit to vote but not a student ID. That's what this "issue" is about. http://votingrights.news21.com/article/election-fraud/

robinsss it's a "solution" in search of a problem---that doesn't exist. You're disenfranchising thousands of voters to solve a non-existent problem and Republicans didn't give a crap about this "issue" until they figured it would help them in elections (as some of them have admitted). The idea that someone could use it to swing an election is laughable at best---the penalties are too high for the individuals who would do it and it would take thousands, if not millions of people to pull it off. This is all about making it harder for students and the elderly to vote: ban students from using a student ID; force elderly people to travel across state lines to their county of birth to get a birth certificate, fill out all sorts of forms, get a ride to the DMV and.......why exactly? So Republicans can increase their odds in the next election because one person out of millions might do something that will have NO impact on the outcome.

robinsss not as easy as you think "People are caught in a Catch-22: You need a birth certificate to get this ID, but to get a birth certificate you have to have an ID," says Elisabeth MacNamara, who heads the League of Women Voters." http://www.npr.org/2012/01/28/146006217/why-new-photo-id-laws-mean-some-wont-vote http://www.dallasnews.com/investigations/watchdog/20140531-new-voter-id-law-means-some-seniors-have-no-id.ece http://www.lawyerscommittee.org/page?id=0046 http://billmoyers.com/2014/09/25/another-elderly-woman-gets-caught-gops-war-voting/

Diamond Nanorods You need a photo ID to get a copy of your birth certificate. You need your birth certificate to get a photo ID---see the problem? Imagine an old person who hasn't driven in years, or perhaps never did, but always voted in the same place for eons. She'd have to go through a rigorous process, perhaps traveling across state lines, going to multiple government offices----just to solve a "problem" that doesn't exist, that one in 20 million votes might be made in error. The only "problem" this is really meant to address is the Republican party's inability to appeal to younger and old people. The GOP wants to do all it can to keep certain people from voting.

Diamond Nanorods "too many ways to illegally vote?" Baloney---one or two votes out of millions isn't going to impact anything, but keeping thousands of people from voting just might---which is why Republicans are suddenly pushing for this, as some of them admit. Didn't you see the links I posted above? I bet you chose to ignore them and stick with your talking points instead.
