Chinese have this weird mentality which they don't see home loan as liability but as investments. They think once they buy a home beyond their means, they've gained and secured assets equal to FUTURE value of that home, and they see liability of debts that come with it not as debt but as "forced savings toward their future". Which is why housing price anywhere in the world where Chinese buyers are fueling do not make sense. They are wrong but they'll tell you we are the ones who don't get it.

@OctavioAraujo I don’t agree greed is a problem. I have more than I ever need but I still want my investment to grow even more. The more the better. I don’t see a downfall from this mentality. I’d think the culprit ruining investments is ego. People have this ego thinking they know what they are doing when they are actually clueless. Their ego also make them believe they can handle risks beyond their control.

@htee7426 Both. No matter how much these people brag about values which their properties had escalated, if all costs associated are accounted for, their gains still don’t outperform S&P500.
