@Zoe-ss6vr Still selling that flu narrative, eh? Do medical staff die from treating flu patients? According to Ben Cowling, more than 100,000 Chinese died from flu last flu season. No one needed to be alarmed because most who died from flu are the sick and the old with existing long term health issues. Fatality rate of flu is less than 0.1%. This new virus is said to have fatality rate of 2%, but deaths to recovered is 1 to 10, with critical to mild being 1 to 5. So, assuming we'll save half of all in critical conditions, fatality rate is closer to 10%. That's playing Russian Roulette with a 10 round pistol. So, this is not 'just a flu'.

@anrenchen556 Taiwan did nothing? Taiwan's massive work to strengthen disease control and public health started 17 years ago after lessons learnt from SARS. We never stopped. It's China that did nothing for 17 freakin' years. Our vice president is an epidemiologist from Johns Hopkins. But let's not get into that, let's just look at one of many emergency responses. President Tsai ramped up Taiwan's mask production capacity from 4 million a day to 10 million a day to reinforce medical staff. A 6-months task to be completed within a month, by end of February. Thanks to producers locking in resources around the globe to create 60+ assembly lines the very second President Tsai called them up for meeting. Now, why are those parts still available? Shouldn't CCP have grabbed them all up a full month before Taiwan did? Tsai's administration is now working to ramp up to 14 million a day. Foxconn's founder had to start a mask production plant in Japan to produce 2 million a day just so Foxconn's workers in China can resume work. While CCP makes propaganda videos of dancing and kissing in hospitals on Valentine's Day.

@anrenchen556 Let's do one short one of DDP vs CCP. President Tsai just cancelled large scale ceremony for her inauguration in May. What was Beijing doing only days *after* Wuhan's lockdown? Extravagant 'Spring Night' fest celebration broadcasted to impress everyone.

@anrenchen556 Another discussion of what Taiwan did in response. Moved hospitals' pharmacy department to outdoor tents to reduce traffic in hospitals. Create separate line of movement for patients with travel history in China. Double up workforce to keep public space clean and sanitized with even higher frequency. Public health announcements to keep reminding citizens that keeping hands clean, not touching our face, and personal hygiene is just as important as wearing masks, if not more. Have a comprehensive protocol for travelers entering Taiwan to self-quaratine and report to CDC if having symptoms. Keeping tap of health status of all human network of all currently infected. Disease control center holds regular hour-long press conference to update public on our status, measures taken and plans moving forward. What had CCP done? Propaganda video of robots in hospitals while in reality hospitals are cramped to a point that people are getting infected inside hospitals. Propaganda videos of medical staff kissing and hugging after working so hard to barely see each other, when in reality they can't be provided with proper protection and are dying from infections. CCP is a farce.

@anrenchen556 All of Taiwan's food court area provide sinks to wash our hands with disinfectant soap, without needing to go into restrooms. What did China install? Face recognition computer to prevent people from taking toilet rolls from restroom. Priorities. Are those computers really cheaper than toilet rolls? Or are manufacturers of those useless tech in bed with local officials to steal tax payers' money? China, upon catching on being mocked for restrooms not up to sanitary standard, started making propaganda "luxury toilets" with large space and coffee dispenser. Who the heck wants to drink coffee in a toilet? I could have just ordered one at Starbucks and then take it with me into its restroom to drink. Why can't China just be normal and do what's proven to work. It's always gimmicky junk trying to prove China is ahead of everyone else.

@thomasbobhuang311 The Economist 喔? “ …greatest uncertainty is how many cases have gone unrecorded. Primary health care is rudimentary in China and some of the ill either avoided or were turned away from busy hospitals. Many more may have such mild symptoms that they do not realise they have the disease. Modelling by academics in Hong Kong suggests that, as of January 25th, tens of thousands of people have already been infected and that the epidemic will peak in a few months’ time. If so, the virus is more widespread than thought, and hence will be harder to contain within China.” “Many experts praise China’s efforts. Certainly, its scientists have coped better with the Wuhan virus than they did with SARS in 2003… China’s politicians come off less well. They left alone the cramped markets filled with wild animals that spawned SARS. With the new virus, local officials in Wuhan first played down the science and then, when the disease had taken hold, enacted the draconian quarantine fully eight hours after announcing it, allowing perhaps 1 million potentially infectious people to leave the city first.” 啊不就又只是在浪費時間做宣傳轉移焦點?“ ...left alone the cramped markets filled with wild animals that spawned SARS” 不就等於 17年 什麼事都沒做?

@anrenchen556 I was addressing your quote, "Especially Taiwan government, it just grab this opportunity and happily hit mainland China when Beijing is down rather than control the disease." When WHO declares it a pandemic, all countries should raise their disease control readiness to level 1, meaning, each and every nation should dedicate all available resources to control disease. Taiwan simply raised it ahead of WHO just as Taiwan restricted flights ahead of WHO's advice. I don't see anything wrong with it. This type of disease control authority usually gets handed over to higher executive branch supervising current team, but our president's decision was to have current leadership resume his team's work. What does that tell you? There's absolute trust in current team's performance. Yes, we are bracing for impact as community spread may come any day now simply because the world isn't going to stop turning. But we are doing well because we had being building up a strong defense against potential outbreak since 2003 after SARS.

1
Thomas Bob Huang
