Those non-Apple screens had Apple logo on the back side. Though not visible by consumer. But as a business owner, you don't want a product you didn't take part in to have your company name on it. You also don't want to have your customers' user experience being reflected from parts/products which they think it's yours but isn't. Those parts were not manufactured under Apple's QC watch. All Apple asked, was for the repair guy to not use parts with Apple logo that didn't come from Apple. If I had to guess, those came from factories that make Apple phones but those parts didn't pass Apple's QC and were supposed to be truncated, but to those factories, it's "good enough" to be shipped into repair market. Where do you suppose China's reputation of bad QC came from?
