@kymanibrown8039 No. It's the other way around.

If China invades, TSMC won't fall under CCP's control. It will just fall. Equipments and materials to fabricate chips come from countries that are U.S. allies. Chips are mostly designed by U.S. Moreover, the very second CCP has TSMC, it will be run by corrupt politicians instead of capable executives. The odds of a CCP-controlled TSMC functioning like it should is nil.

@hhwong177 Yes. But you forgot peace, stability, free market, free competition, free people, is the best foundation to build economy. So, there is nothing wrong with making decisions based on benefits to economy.

@slyktech1860 I am aware Taiwan does fabrication. But if U.S. firms are banned from handling over their designs or reluctant to give TSMC their designs, what's there to fabricate? As Morris Chang put it, the one key factor that TSMC managed to outcompete others is trust. For example, Apple gives its design to TSMC instead of Samsung because TSMC won't build anything to compete with Apple, and so on.

@slyktech1860 It's safer for big tech to work with Samsung and Intel, or pay more to have TSMC's entire crew of engineers build a new company in U.S., than to trust a TSMC running under CCP. Intel and Samsung have products that compete with their clients, but at least all operates within RULE OF LAW.

@slyktech1860 If Taiwan falls, U.S. can just take those Taiwanese engineers and executives. It's simple. There is NO possibility of China having control over chip fabrication which world depends on. If Taiwan falls, it would come down to U.S. allies and China's allies competing to rebuild chip fabrication capabilities. U.S. will win in such race.

@bighands69 Yes. China does not have deep sea port to launch submarines unnoticed. Taiwan has one. Su'ao port. And it's on the east side.

@slyktech1860 You still don't understand. Let's just say we give Apple to China as Christmas present, Apple will turn into poop in no time. There had been key players in TSMC who took their engineers to build something similar in China. It failed. Because anyone with power to shape that company, just wanted to use it as a vehicle to get money from the government, money which they can move into their personal bank accounts. China is "functioning" only because foreign capitalists are invested in it. China can't do anything right.

@slyktech1860 This is what will happen when China takes TSMC: - Corrupt CCP politicians fighting to be board of directors at TSMC. The most ruthless thugs win. - CCP installs its watchdog party within TSMC like it does with every company operating in China. - Watchdog parties look for ways to take down executives seats which they can then replace with their own. - Surviving gang controlling TSMC starts drafting promises which they know Emperor Xi wants to hear to con astronomical funding. - They discuss how to split the loot and focus on moving TSMC's assets into their personal bank accounts. CCP robbed all lands of China during landlord purge. So, in theory, CCP would then be operating endless fields of farms. Right? Yet, entire country fell into poverty and starvation. That is, until the west and Taiwan pulled it out of poverty. Anything CCP took control turned into trash. Including United Nations.

@khallidramos156 Decouple. China wasn't threatening to start WWIII in the 60s because it was too poor to start one. Send China's economy back to the 60s.
