  3. China kept the more fertile lands of Mongolia, thus far more people. But China has worked hard to erode the culture and people...nearly 80% of Inner Mongolia are Han Chinese. The city in Mongolia is also about 10 deg C colder in the winter and has less precipitation than most cities in Inner Mongolia. It's not suitable for big population.

  7. I've been seeing a lot of content about the Darien gap in recent weeks or moths. NY Times podcast (The Daily) had an episode on a a reporter who did the travel through the Darien gap with migrants. It was tough. They saw at least one dead body. The major problems they discussed is that it's often hilly (ups and downs), muddy, streams, insects, very hot and humid, and not close to any civilization if you get sick or injured. And that's usually how the deaths occur - a person gets sick or injured and cannot go any further and succumbs to the conditions. They ran into one 9yr old child separated from her mother and being looked after by one of the men making the trip. The reporter falls behind to see if she can cross path with the mother. She does. The woman has blisters and possibly infections in her feet and could not keep up. She lost her daughter near some hill. if those blisters or infections were any worse, it could be her body that others see later on.

  9.  @benrodir2  this shows that people make mistakes and that this Channel goes beyond others to correct mistakes. So if it stays up in this channel, i would argue it’s generally trustworthy. Nothing is 100% perfect so even trusted programs should still have be only part of your total information gathering

  11. I’m glad they are moving the capital of Indonesia. It’s insane to have 140 million people in such a small area. Jakarta is also sinking so they need to stop the growth.

Also, hardly any Mexicans live in that small area of Mexico between US border and where the river runs into the gulf of California

  13. Weaknesses also include a rapidly shrinking economic growth with this year likely to be 2nd year in 3 years with gdp growth under 3%. Baking crisis already forming where many are not paying their bank loans on construction properties that have been delayed and some banks are limiting withdrawals leading to protests. And the housing market is about to crash with prices dropping already and construction been halted in many places. There is also the demographic crisis where working age population is already shrinking and total population will begin shrinking shortly

  14. @Jgw, 100# spot on. Russia was NOT going to hold on to Alaska and US knew this as week. US also knew the only two countries that would buy it are UK and USA. Of course they weren’t going to see it to their enemy and threat UK so US was the only option. It’s easy to get a great deal when the selling party MUST sell (or lose it) and when there is only one buying party.

  17.  @darealberrygarcia  the two biggest and probably only real factor in why they didn’t connect South America to North America is that it’s too expensive to build and Maintain roads through the gap and the second reason is the huge negative impact to the environment. This video is much like most of their videos in the past year — way too alarmist and often exaggerating things such as stating the US is the reason a road hasn’t been built through the gap.

It's important that while we blame the US and other nations for their involvement, we also understand that without that intervention South Korea today would be like North Korea. So did it work better for South Korea to have the US involvement on their side?

Why can’t you admit that South Korea is a success story that lead to it becoming a wealthy nation, a democracy, and strong human rights? No country is perfect so don’t give me this “why can’t you take criticism of South Korea!” “How foolish you are to dismiss the elderly who are being neglected by the south government and forced to go homeless,” Still one of the top 30 countries in the world in the quality of care the people receive. How does that compare to North Korea where millions have died of starvation? How does it compare to communist China under Mao where 50 million were killed either in famine or cultural revolution? So you’re only argument is that South Korea is flawed – but that doesn’t mean it’s still not one of the most successful stories and better countries in the world. Unless, of course, you’re a communist that doesn’t like people having freedoms or any wealth or rights?

You think the west paid hundreds of thousands of protesters to go to the streets and protests after the then Russian puppet president of Ukraine was killing protesters? You think the west paid Ukrainian congress to Vote 75% in support of removing the president? Funny - all of this started when the president had for years said he was going to sign some deal with the EU and in the last minute (bribed by Putin) dropped the deal, people hit the streets in protests, then president began killing protesters which angered the people even more. But yeah, not Putin’s fault for them invading the country he tried to bribe and keep as a puppet.

Their working age population started shrinking in 2014 and their total population will begin shrinking shortly. I never said China won't surpass the US in terms of total GDP, I'm pointing out that on a per capita basis, their level of wealth is not going to reach the US level. This year will be the 2nd time in 3 years they have growth under 3%. They were at 10-12% from 2000-2012. They have banking and housing crises forming with people protesting in mass due to banking issues and mass number withholding payments on housing projects that are delayed. These issues are a problem for the govt which is why the govt is becoming increasingly nationalistic and warmongerings. That helps rally support.

  26.  @6023barath  I'm bothered by the glaring mistakes that seems to be more common recently but the bigger issue I have is the alarmist tone they have on many of the geopolitical issues. They overexaggerate the possibilities of some terrible event and I think such alarmist videos can give people the wrong idea of the facts.

  28. Every aggressor is sacrificing money and lives for something. They don't do it unless they happen to have something big to gain. Most wars we see in recent decades are related to terrorism or threats made by one country or a civil war. What Russia did here is more in common with the ways wars were fought before WW2 -- old fashion land grabs. The last war I can think of where it was such an aggressive action was 1991 Iraq invasion of Kuwait. That was the last land grab I can think of.

It's also harder to get people to watch 40min YT videos but I'm guessing they are sacrificing some potential financial earrings in order to produce more quality content which can be considered better in the long run. Most of these similar youtube channels seem to stick to 15-25min. I believe even RLL use to do that until recently.

Doesn't think there large number of people withholding payments to banks on delayed housing construction. Doesn't think China's GDP only grew 0.4% this past quarter. Does think anything bad is happening in China.

  38.  @PutXi_Whipped  to expand on the effect of the demographic collapse, look at Japan. Their economy stagnated the moment their population stalled and started to decline. The main reasons are many but include the following 1. Workers are a key driver in economic growth of a country. CNhas shrinking worforce so some of the gains in productivity are being offset by fewer workers. Explain it like ur 5: Start with 10 workers. see increase in productivity of 20% so now they produce 1.2x more than before. Lose one worker but stay 20% productiviy gain, it'x now 9x1.2 = 1.08x increase instead of 1.2. If offset much of that productivity gain 2. More elderly people means more social services for the elderly which means more taxes on the working age which reduces efficiency You can see CN already looking to increase taxes to pay for more and more which will increase the cost of goods and lead to fewer exports. Maybe they should teach you this in China but of course nothing negative about China can be taught there.

They have to make massive investments and use more costly measures to get more energy and some of those sources would be much easier to Sabotage than oil tankers. It is a weakness and the same time they are trying to reduce the weakness

They often sent in lots of Russians to newly conquered areas as well to dilute the ethnic minority population. Russia committed holodomor in 1930’a and millions of Ukrainians died or were displaced. Russia moved in Russians to replace them, mostly in eastern Ukraine and now it’s mostly Russians there. I’m Crimea they evicted the tartars who a century ago made up majority of population and now make up a tiny percentage.

  44.  @donnmckee4973  that’s true but also keep in mind the amount of oil will they get from Russia is only a fraction of what they need and also keep in mind the “discount” they get does not include the transportation costs of the oil which is expensive considering how far in Russia it has to travel to Chinas refineries.

Vietnam started taking islands NEAR Vietnam as response China is BUILDING islands 1000 km from their coasts often much closer to Philippines and Indonesia. + 1000 social credits

  49. I'm glad you aren't doing as many 'doomsday' geopolitical issues lately and returning to the old ways. This was a fascinating video and I've been intrigued with Hawaii since I first visited about 5 years ago. I've done 2 trips and visited all 4 of the major visited islands. They are all so unique in their own way. 1. Oahu: The only island with a big city and a nice city at that (Honolulu). Great beaches. Some great views of the small mountains and lots of interesting little towns. Expensive and small though. Also lacking a large mountain or canyon. 2. Big Island. Complete opposite of Oahu. Beaches aren't good or just okay at best and it has no big city with Hilo & Kailua-Kona being only mid size towns (40k & 20k) but boring. However, it has the best 'other'. It has 2 huge mountains with one you can go to the top at over 13k above sea elevation. it's really cold up there. They have some amazing canyons, great active lava fields to view, and amazing world class snorkeling/scuba spots. IIIRC, one of 2 places in the world where the giant manta ray is common/predictable making for a great snorkling / scuba experience. 3. Maui: The Best beaches. No big city and mid size town is a bit boring but still better than the towns of Big Island. Road to Hana overrated (can't see much on the road other than trees) but the mountain at 10k provides some great views of the island and the valley down below. Do not recall any beautiful canyons 4. Kauai: Again, no big city. Maybe the most interesting town outside of Oahu though but almost no one else outside of that one town. The best canyons by far if you take a helicopter tour. Some great views as well if you go up the mountain -- canyons, valleys, etc. Beaches not as good as Maui or even Oahu but still very good and much better than beaches on Big Island.

  50. It’s mostly due to agricultural use in California. That’s a whole different beast than residential and commercial water usage. It’s far more difficult to recycle water in agriculture without having major effects on the industry. But they will have to make those changes eventually
