NY Times podcast "The Daily" had an episode recently that was based on some article in the NYT. It's about how many are moving production to Mexico -- including many Chinese companies! They even detail one industrial park north of Monterrey Mexico that has 28 Chinese companies that recently signed on to build factories in this park. The reasons Chinese companies and others around the world are doing so is basically 3 fold: 1. pandemic proved supply chains can easily be disrupted. One major cause of the supply chain disruption was ocean freight -- ships waiting weeks off the coast to dock. By building in Mexico, they can avoid this issue. 2. Overall transportation cost into the biggest consumer market in the world, the US. This is more true for larger items where transportation by ocean to the west coast then train and or truck is significantly more expensive than the shorter route of trucks from mexico (often border states/towns) into the US. 3. Tariffs. This is 2 part. NAFTA allows companies to have free trade between Mexico and US & Canada but also for those that were building in China, they can avoid the current tariffs on China and any future economic action against China.

@gwho That's part of it but there is also massive corruption in Mexico that interferes with proper business policies. One solution to get around the cartels is that many are opening up factories in central mexico like San Luis Potosi, Leon and Queretaro.

@basilmagnanimous7011 The whole "China things long term" never made sense. The one Child Policy was literally a short term plan that cost them in the long term. Same with using housing in a pyramid like scheme to bring lots of money to the economy in the short term but now they have severe problems with housing and a housing market crash is very possible. I agree. If China's government really cared about improving the economy and making people happier, they wouldn't go on a wolf warrior diplomacy, threatening Taiwan, and trying to steal the south china sea all while spending hundreds of billions a year on a military. All this has done is lead to many countries trying to decouple from China, investors worried about China thus reducing foreign investments, and targeted sanctions like the advance chips.

I realized my first response to @Basil and his reply to me don't show up. YT is weird. y original comment was just saying that no one expects China to not grow their military but it's the speed and type of weapons they are building that's an issue. Add in what it's doing in regards to Taiwan, the south china sea, and clashes with India, this seems like a big concern. let's see if YT allows this comment to stay up.

Countries and businesses are already looking to reduce their dependence on China's manufacturing -- including Chinese companies! If their only Olán was to raise the standard of living or Chinese citizens, why do they send so many to concentration camps? Why are that making and decisions and alienating half of it trading partners who now look to de couple from china? How does that help the Chinese citizen to have fewer trading partners and be considered an international pariah like their best buddy Russia?

Sailor Bob that’s a stupid take. C-Milk complains about CCP propaganda but yet he defends right wing propaganda? That makes him a hypocrite and that makes you one as well if you support him on that

@enriqueperezarce5485 SLP, Queretaro or Leon? I've been to San Luis Potosi for work and went to Queretaro for work and later or pleasure on a trip to Guanajuato (city), San Miguel and Queretaro. Queretaro is the richest looking city in Mexico I've been to. Big parts of it look just as rich as a typical American city.

And if they only cared about their economy, why are threatening to invade Taiwan? Why are they trying to steal the South China Sea? Why are they attacking India in the border? Why did they make an anti west friendship pact with Putin to go after the west? These all sound terrible for the economy of China. That’s probably why Chinas economic growth is dropping fast and China is now expected to never get anywhere near the gdp per capita of Japan or South Korea or Taiwan…let alone even get to 1/4 of the US gdp per capita.

CCP Wvumaos: if there were conc camps, why aren’t there any pictures from the inside? We say pics of abu grabi (Iraq prison where US tortured). Me: here are pics just released CCP Wvumao: it can be a regular prison Me: so you never cared about the picture evidence because you were always going to just say it’s just a normal prison CCP W8mao: (changes subject) how you know there is a g8nocide if you hasn’t been there?! Rinse and repeat

@basilmagnanimous7011 No expects China to not grow their military. The speed and type of weapons and military they are building is what's troubling. It's obvious it's not just about defense, it's about offense. Add in what they are also doing in their attempts to essentially steal the South China Sea from it's neighbors and it's threats to Taiwan and it's clashes with India, it's even more apparent why China is growing their military at such a rate.

I love Jordan Harbinger. He has some great interviews. His interview with you and Winston was great.

It almost sounds sarcastic but this is true.

@dogetaxes8893 US succeeds in part because the geography but also the strong economic conditions they built. China has good arable lands and some other resources but their problem is they have had too many people for a few centuries and weak economic policies. China is surrounded by weak nations historically from Korea to Vietnam to Japan. But then China did a weak job on economy during industrial revolution and were left behind by not only Europe and US and much of the west but also by japan others in the region later.
1
@dogetaxes8893 China has since the 80’s moved to good economic policy but the aging demographics and their lack of allowing immigrants will doom them like japan hit the wall in the 90’s…except japan reached wealthy income levels by then and China only recently entered middle income

@benmarley3086 when where there few issues in the US?
1
@benmarley3086 ok, but when did the US not have issues? Perhaps the 90’s were the least problems??
1
@benmarley3086 nothing was perfect, literally what I said. You are suggesting chaos and bad things are recent so I asked you when did the US have the least issues. So now you agree with me that there is always major problems and chaos??

@lip124 ": If Chinese are building factories in Mexico, then more than likely, it's going to benefit china. " It's going to benefit the Chinese companies, not China. It's moving jobs out of China. I'm not saying it will severely hurt China but it does have a negative impact. And all the labor is from Mexico but I'm sure the top positions are still Chinese.

@ロクアンドロールしかないでも好きだ “solar technology” coming from China? That’s an odd way to say US created technology that is now used by Asian manufacturers and that US gets most of solar panels from Malaysia and Vietnam. How is Beijing today? You guys sorry you don’t have access to the advance chips?

Snopes on tiktok in China are basically saying they don’t know whether to call it a ban if they offer a service that seems identical, by the same company, and trying to comply with Chinas government: - TikTok is not available in the country, and hasn't been since it was first launched in 2016. That said, there is no official evidence proving or disproving that China banned TikTok. As such, we rate the claim Unproven. - At the time of this publication, Chinese company ByteDance owned social media apps TikTok and Douyin. TikTok is available internationally, but you cannot find the app in the Chinese app store. Instead, you would find Douyin, which has been described as the country's domestic alternative to TikTok.

@laowhy86 C-Milk, you got to stop coming to the defense of the Epoch Times. They are are a very bias right wing source that is putting out a lot of content to defend Trump on everything, not just China. Trumps claim that the FBI was tapping his phones — the Epoch Times is defending Trump. They are right wing propaganda

Ok millenial. This is clearly a very bias take on the issue. The boomers in China have it better than the young people today? The chinese boomer went through cultural revolution, the great famine and extreme poverty that continued until and through the 90's. In the last 20 years some of those boomers have benefited but only after a lifetime of a terrible economic life. Today's kids in China grow up in wealthier households and are spoiled (relative to previous generations) because Chinese are so much wealthier today than in the past. Sorry, but you arguing that chinese boomers had it easier makes this video a joke
