  1. "70% of American's want that mosque down there". Yeah, well 80% of southerns in 1860 believed slavery was ok. Over half in the 50's believed segregation was ok. Over 50% today believe gays shouldn't marry. The majority of people thought it was ok to put Japanese-US in camps during WW2 for several years. In the 50's, over 80% of soldiers wanted to keep the military segregated(the Pres desegregated it nonetheless). Just cuz the majority agree doesn't make it right when it comes to civil rights.

  2. this is all politics. Its not a Mosque but an Islamic Center (think YMCA but with a multi-cultural prayer area). Its not at ground zero but 2 1/2 blocks away...near strip clubs.There already is a mosque about 5 blks from ground 0. There's already a muslim praying site near the Pentagon attack site. The guy behind this Islamic Center, contrary to what Palin & Newt and Fox News is spewing, is a VERY moderate muslim who WORKS FOR THE US GOVT to spread a message of peace among faiths.

  3. @hekkl5 the sad think is he wasn't exaggerating. I've seen about 3 polls and all were around 60-68% of americans believe a 'mosque should not be built at ground zero'. Interesting enough, over 50% of manhattans have no problem with it...its the rest of America.
