The scammer told her she was going to be arrested. Then sees the cops outside demanding she come out. The scammer probably was telling her the faster she sends the money the faster he will call the police off. She didn’t want to get arrested. This all played into the scammers story. That’s why she didn’t open the door.

It may not be a hate crime. The man attacked 2 old people. In San Francisco their is a large Asian community downtown where he was hunting. As such if it was a hate crime he would have a wide range of ages to choose from. More than likely it was robbery. Older Asians have a reputation for carrying large amounts of cash on them. Not all, it is hard to know who. I think this man was hoping to hit it big but, lost.

@Hi My Name Is - he was in an area where Asians work or live. Last time I was in S.F. China Town was maybe a mile from the warf. I could be wrong I was a kid when I was there. Went from the warf to China town and it took 15 min by cable car. So, if the man was in or near the China Town area the majority of the people in the area would be Asian. So attacking 2 Asians would not be unheard of.

@Denzel Washington - not really. Old people have always been a target. Before direct deposit people use to wait outside banks and wait for the elderly to cash their SSI checks. They would follow them home and wait for the perfect spot to knock them down and steal their purse or wallet. Once direct deposit became common, home robberies went up.

You would think that after the first couple of boxes being opened, the crowd would realize there was nothing in them. Sure they would be mad but they would realized someone spread the rumor as a joke and they fell for it. Nope, they were just mad because they felt they were lied to. Nothing about feeling guilty for stealing, damaging anything or any one. It’s the Me first, me, me, me mentality. And they have the nerve to say the US is bad.

There are steps in the wall to assist people who fall into the canal. You can see someone with a ladder and yet, they didn’t let go and swim to it. If you can’t swim, you shouldn’t go in a boat on the water just for this reason. I wonder if when they got home, did they tell everyone about the rude people in Venice?

@joesr31 - I was able to convince a coworker younger than me that the lines on meat are marks from where the jockey hit the horse. She never ate at the lunch place again. It’s got nothing to do with age, being gullible. It’s using peoples fears against them. A lot of people are afraid of going to jail. That’s why the scam works so well.

Same country still says capitalist America is evil yet, they act like They are entitled cause they have money - now. Kind of looks like they want to be Americans.

Why didn’t they just stomp on the small flames to put it out or use their coat/shirt to smother the fire? They had many options other than water like throw dirt on it or using the heels of their shoes to dig a trench around the fire (a fire break)? The fire was not spreading fast. They had plenty of time to try something. Instead they picked one spot and kicked at the fire instead of stomping on all of it before it spread.
