  1. A vaccine doesn’t mean you can’t get the virus. It means if you get it it should not be as strong and you would have gotten had you not been vaccinated. In other words - it may suck, it may hurt but, you shouldn’t die from it. Polo vaccine use to be a live virus vaccine. People still got polo from it however, it was a milder case of polo. Meaning they did not need to be placed into an iron lung machine. The researches developed a dead virus vaccine and that helped in reducing even more polo. People who would have been susceptible to a live virus vaccine now got a chance to fight the virus with the dead version. They could have still been exposed and still contracted it but it would be an even milder case. That vaccine did not stop Polo over night either. It takes 3-5 to see what the first dose does in slowing or stopping the spread of a deadly virus.
