@genehasenbuhler2594 - I just mentioned what Security Guards are told to do by their training and by the cops. Those that have gotten involved have been killed or fired. So do be blaming me. Maybe you should spend that energy on the insurance companies that made that happen.

His job is not to interfere but to get as much information as he can to give to the police.

Everyone is talking about how the female jumped the curb and attacked someone. I noticed NO ONE giving aid to the other person she hit. It even looked like someone ran across the parking lot say the man laying down and the tan up and kicked him.

I don’t see anything wrong with her driving. I did hear her slur her words though. She has her gun on her because police are required to have it on them at all times. Being drunk with it on them is not a crime. I don’t know of any states that says being drunk and having a gun on you is a crime. However, being drunk and firing it for no reason or to settle an argument even a fist fight and pulling your gun to fire it is a crime. You got away from the fight, you could have kept walking. So all these people saying the cop was showing favoritism here is wrong. It is not until he takes it to the back is he doing favoritisms. Most cops place it on the hood of the car till all is settled and have the owner put it in the trunk. The passenger has done nothing wrong. He has not pulled his gun either so there is no reason to stop him or take the gun away. I have seen many cops let the passenger go and I have seen the passenger come back and do something stupid to get arrested. The only crime here is drunk driving. The couple did not escalate anything.

@YesItsReallyKeith - I agree with you however, it’s not a law in the US - to help someone like it is in other parts of the world. Security guards get fired a lot for helping others when they are suppose to be working for that store. If they help then they are not doing their job and so they get fired. What happens in the parking lot is outside their job, the inside of the store is what they are hired to guard. There are dozens if not hundreds of news stories where guards have been fired for stopping shoplifters cause their jobs is to observe and not get involved. If they leave the store to help save someone (like this guy did) they are fired for getting involved when their job is the store and observing. This guard helped someone but also observed the driver, got a description of them, the vehicle. They did not try to stop them. Then went to the victim to check on them but did not help with first aid. That is why. I get it. I also think stores need to change their policy to allow them to help because it is the right thing to do.

Well he is now in prison during Covid and probably fighting for his life. Since prisons are a hot spot for it.
