I have a lot of friends who are in a hover zone between that culture and conventional culture (but it's more that my friends and I enjoy more eclectic cultural styles, and we like to study how ancient civilizations dealt with modern problems because, contrary to popular belief, the ancients were not stupid simply because they existed in the past), but there's a looooooot of "my eyes are opened, I'm awakened, I've been enlightened" arrogance here that often confuses buzz-words with physics and other fields of study. I love going to consciousness-focused festivals, and I learn a lot of skills that help me to be able to better live in the world around me without being wasteful or damaging to the environment, but many people in the subculture can be wiggidy-whack.

Yaku One An embarrassing number of Americans today think that pollution doesn't contaminate water supplies, decrease the quality of air, or cause deforestation.  I could go on about many stupid things that we do in modern times, many stupid things that were done before various scientific advances, and many brilliant things for both. I could tell you how the Giza pyramids and those at Chichen Itza have existed for longer than all of our modern structures built in the last 100 years, and many structures that have already fallen in the last 100 years.  We are not advanced on everything; only some things. And we have devolved in many ways. There's nothing false about this.
