It looks difficult. Some Russians escaped the conscription abroad, but those who didn't , they are in kind of frames of service for mother Russia and under martial law, desertion is severely punished, there are troops behind the first line which don't fight but only are to catch the deserters, surrendering is only possible in the chaos of the battle... Some Russian soldiers do surrender, sometimes even handing their equipment in, but it's not massive, unfortunately. How it is going to be in the cold, we will see.

Ukrainian soldiers are better equipped for winter, as it comes to food and other supplies Ukraine has better logistics ... IHope it helps

@alexanderbarkman7832 How come? System that had been designed in Soviet Union, was partially changed by Serdyukov reforms, will not work when most of the units meant to (re)train the conscripts are engaged in the fighting - losing their officers and NCOs.

@andrefiord2357 Has APN mention this? Does climate you are used to matter much comparing to (lack of) winter equipment and poor/problematic logistics? I think you're far too optimistic about the quality of the "training" received in peace time and afaik , anybody who can be caught is drafted, not only last years reservists but 50 - 60 yrs olds.

@andrefiord2357 Putin doesn't want to fight ? So what is (his) crooked game ? Send VDV paratroopers to Hostomel to be killed and then to retreat from Kiyv area?? The same in Harkiv oblast' and now in Luhansk , Herson, probably Bahmut ? I have seen recordings of the new conscripts without uniforms, nowhere to sleep, not to mention what to eat ... Are you saying it is like one madman who gives orders to the officers / generals , who would do everything differently? A story like Hitler and Third Reich ??

@andrefiord2357 Have you ever thought that he (whoever) actually couldn't (and cannot), and Russia in fact doesn't have the means ? Because if you couldn't perform several-days-operation, perhaps you most probably cannot run several-months-campaign/s...

@andrefiord2357 Actually some bridges were bombed or shelled (in the summer, l think) and damaged , then Ukrainians repaired them. Now however Russian abilities decrease despite buuing Iranian drones, while Ukrainian air-defence improves.

@tommyandersson5878 Could you provide a link or more information about the source/s , please? 3 months seems much time. As for the electricity, eg in Lviv 99% of the damages was restored in 24 hours (I know, just one example). Another thing is it looks in 3 - 6 months Russia's capabilities will continue to deminish.
